CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

OUR VISION... In scripture, parents are given the primary responsibility for the spiritual development of their children, to "diligently teach them" (Deut. 6:7). It is our vision to partner with parents, helping them develop cross-centered kids, who have "a love for, and knowledge of, and a dependence upon" Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Since we view the Children’s ministry as part of the entire educational ministry of Hope Chapel, the leadership of our church teaches the children on a regular basis.  This is part of our effort to demonstrate our passion to support and equip families, helping them to grow collectively in their love for the Savior.

WHAT TO EXPECT … We believe that our teaching role shouldn’t replace parental teaching, but we do intend it to serve as:

• a helpful guide for what parent’s should be emphasizing in their training
• an equipping context with follow-up materials that reinforce our partnership with them
• a preparatory time where the seeds of the gospel are planted and watered which should lead into an eventual entrance into the adult context and community

 

CURRICULUM... Our vision for children’s ministry has led us to select a curriculum that instructs children in an age appropriate way from the whole of God’s Word.  We understand that children have varying abilities, and so we adapt our vocabulary, teaching medium, and length of teaching to best meet their needs and nurture their growth. 

• “God’s Story” is a comprehensive children’s curriculum that explains the biblical story of redemption.  Each Old Testament lesson answers the question, “Where is Jesus?” and each New Testament lesson answers the question, “Where is the Gospel?”  All children study the same material allowing parents to follow up throughout the week with one lesson.

 

 

PARENTAL SUPPORT...“Get into the Story” is a family devotional program that works in conjunction with the “God’s Story” curriculum.  By using this family devotional outline you are able to review the same lesson your child heard on Sunday.  Fifteen minutes a day is all you need.  We have sought to make it easy for you to lead your family through the Bible. 

• Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday you will cover a discussion point from the main passage.  On Wednesdays, you’ll explore one of the questions above.  Each Friday, you’ll journey down “The Road to Emmaus” where Jesus met two disciples shortly after His resurrection.  Following in their footsteps, you’ll investigate a passage from the Psalms or Prophets to discover how it points to our Savior.
